Time for game drives or walking safaris remains the same. Only cooks and waiters remain in camps for the preparation of meals and drinks. 

A budget camping relies on shared or public campsites. If you visit Serengeti National park, you will camp at Seronera campsite. For Ngorongoro crater, you will overnight at Simba A and B.

You can also do camping outside the parks either in Karatu or Mto wa Mbu if you will visit the northern circuits.  You can either overnight at Panorama Safari camps, Migombani, Twiga camps, or Fanaka. 

Facilities like toilets and showers are available at these campsites.  Expect to use mattresses on the floor of your safari tents instead of beds.  

Best Time For Camping Safaris

Dry season is the best time to enjoy camping safaris in Tanzania. The weather during this time is friendly and best for wildlife viewing.
 
It’s actually from late June to October, January to February. The best chance of seeing the wildebeest migration in the Serengeti is during June and July.
 
And the time to see the wildebeest calving is from late January to February. During this time wildebeest return to southern Serengeti
 
Camping safaris are not only limited to Serengeti National park. You can do camping in Tarangire, Ruaha , Ngorongoro crater and Saadani National park.
