Overview

On this trip, you will visit Nyungwe Forest and Volcano’s national parks. This trip will start in Kigali and ends in Kigali.

You will engage in gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking, and canopy walking, and also have a city tour in Kigali. The tour will end with a drop-off in Kigali.

Itinerary

You will be welcomed by our guide transfer to Kigali city for a short city tour where you will visit the genocide memorial site.

Later in the afternoon, you will transfer to Ruhengeri town for dinner and overnight.

Accomodation: Muhabura Hotel/ Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge/ 5 Volcanoes Boutique Hotel

You will have breakfast early at your lodge and your guide will drive you to the park headquarters for a briefing from the RDB officials, set off for the gorilla trekking.

This experience of gorilla trekking is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure in Volcanoes national park.

After being briefed, the rangers will lead you deep into the forest in search of the Gorillas. You will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures whose company you will cherish for 1 hour.

The activity in Rwanda can take 3-5 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas.

In the afternoon you may go for an optional village tour for a cultural experience with a resident local guide. Return for dinner and overnight at your lodge or hotel.

After having an early breakfast at your lodge, you will be driven to Nyungwe forest national park and also have lunch en route. You will arrive in the evening and have your dinner overnight.

Accomodation: Gisakura Visitor Center/ Nyungwe Top hill view hotel

You will have breakfast at your lodge ahead of your chimpanzee trekking. You will be briefed about the chimpanzee trek before entering the forest, searching for the active and playful fellows in the Nyungwe forest.

You will spot the chimpanzees in the forest, as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimp tracking usually takes about 3 hours.

You will then return to your lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will also engage in a canopy walk in the Nyungwe forest and follow a walking trail that will take you to Uwinka; a swing bridge 50 meters in length that are suspended from large trees.

You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you.

After the canopy walk activity, you will return back to your hotel to overnight.

After having breakfast at your lodge, your guide will drive you to Kigali and you will enjoy a city tour around and visit Kimironko market and the genocide memorial site.

After the city tour, your guide will drive you to the airport which will bring the safari to an end.

Booking Process

If you’re satisfied enough with the information, you can book this tour directly, remember to confirm your booking with a deposit of 40% of the total cost per person. This is needed to secure accommodation and other services which belong to third parties.

At that point, we will issue you with an invoice that includes a balance due date. We must receive the full payment not less than thirty (30) days before the departure date.

In the case of holidays booked within less than thirty (30) days of the departure date, we must receive the full cost within seven (7) working days of our sending written confirmation and invoice.

In the case of non-payment of the balance by the due date, we reserve the right to cancel your booking and retain your deposit, as well as any other cancellation charges.

As any other endeavor challenges are part of the journey, you may experience congestion while arriving or you may experience network outage in most of the areas while on safari.

Bear in mind that there are challenges which we can control as human beings but in case of natural disasters that we do not wish to happen if we are supposed to stop your tour, immediate actions are necessary to save a life.

Packing for a Tanzania safari is vastly different from packing for just about any other trip, and it offers a different challenge depending on whether you’re a solo traveler, family, or couple.

Not only do most safari-goers have weight restrictions on bush flights (a typical weight restriction is 15 kilograms or 33 pounds total per person, including camera equipment and carry-ons), but you also have the challenge of knowing which types of clothes to wear on safari are appropriate.

On any given day, you will encounter Blue Wildebeests, Zebras, a large variety of antelope species, Gazelles, Giraffes, Baboons, and Hippos.

The birdlife is fantastic – in some areas, up to 400 bird species have been identified! Think of the majestic Baobab tree (some tribes believe that the tree was indeed planted upside-down!), and there are hundreds of varieties of thorn trees!

You will also see the acacia-dotted landscape, endless plains, majestic mountains, and the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises one could ever imagine!

Think of a late afternoon thunderstorm, short but violent, and then the beautiful rainbow.

This aspect is much overstated. You will rarely see a snake, but if you do, it will most likely be from the safety of your safari vehicle.

Tents and lodges all have bug screens fitted to windows and doors. In most areas where bugs or mosquitoes are prevalent, rooms and tents are also equipped with mosquito nets, adding to the idealistic ambiance.

Bear in mind that malaria is a threat in most wildlife areas, and it is necessary to consult your doctor for advice before embarking on your safari.

Tanzania destinations are accessible throughout the year but we advise you to take your tours during the dry session for the safari so that you can enjoy the best sightings at this time as the grasses and bush are at their least dense.

Around the turn of the century (until the ’30s and ’40s), mobile tenting was the only option, and “camp as you go” was the standard practice.

Over the years the luxury connected with the traditional mobile tenting safari has increased.

By the same token, one can understand that the cost of having a “luxury hotel” following one around in Africa is expensive.

However, most people settle for permanent tented camps. Because they are “permanent” they can be equipped with flush toilets and traditional bathroom fixtures and conveniences.

Don’t be misled by terminology – a permanent tented camp offers the comfort of a 5-star hotel but with the romance and adventure of being surrounded by the sights and sounds of Africa.
