Wag Hill is a boutique, eco-friendly lodge located on the southern shore of Lake Victoria, a 30-minute drive from Mwanza town. It’s set on the tip of a peninsula jutting out into the Mwanza Gulf, boasting more than a kilometer of protected waterfront.
The lodge has two natural harbors, which have become breeding grounds for some of the largest Tilapia in the world.
Our vistas are unique and breathtaking. The area is surrounded by gently rolling, lush green hills and breathtaking granite rock structures that appear to defy gravity. Undoubtedly, we are among the very few lodges in Tanzania with such a magnificent location. Wag Hill Lodge is the perfect way to complete a safari.
Eco-Tourism
Wag Hill Lodge & Spa is designed and maintained with minimal environmental impact in mind. We continually strive to improve and evolve, and our goal is to engage travelers in environmental protection and wildlife preservation.
We are developing participatory community activities that deepen our partnership with guests and the community, share knowledge and experiences, and reduce our environmental impact.
Community Partnership
It’s important to us to support our community. We purchase locally made products and fresh produce, including fruits and eggs, from neighboring Luchelele Village. Our plans for our own farm and greenhouses are underway as well.
The fresh fish served at the lodge is delivered daily by local fishermen, and we recruit staff from the village, thereby promoting and enhancing income-generating opportunities within the community.
Plastic bottles are collected and sold for recycling. The funds are shared among staff, providing them with additional income while demonstrating the importance and benefits of environmental protection.
