Sunset Mountain Lodge, is one of the best Lodges in Ruaha and nestled in Idelemle mountains only 16 km. away from the park border, boasts of its tranquillity and hospitality.

The views from the chalets are quite incredible, overlooking a breathtaking landscape and making the sunset views quite stunning.

Being outside the park, the lodge can also offer other unique visitor attractions such as a trip to the local Makonde carving center, snake park, or a community visit. Walks may also be conducted in and around the campgrounds.

It is amazing to think that in just 2 hours flight or 6 hours of traveling, you can escape the hectic urban melee of Dar-es-salaam and be in the heart of one of the world’s great wildernesses.

The clamor of car engines is replaced by the grunting of hippos, the chatter of playful vervet monkeys, and the shrill keening of eagles.

The choice of accommodation consists of eleven self-contained chalets overlooking a vast tropical lawn of indigenous trees to the horizon, with a magnificent view of the sunset and a rewarding view of lions and wild dogs for the early riser.

With their grace, intelligence, and majesty; herds of elephants can be seen around the lodge grounds, mingling with giraffes, hyenas, and various antelope species such as impalas, elands, and greater lesser kudu.

Rooms

The chalet is equipped for three guests, featuring a fully stocked minibar and tea and coffee-making facilities.

The available features are Double beds, En-suite, Balcony/patio, Bunk beds, Single beds, Fan, Tea, and Coffee Facilities

Dining

The dining area and main building are spacious with a platform to take advantage of the lodge’s strongest asset.

The mood is one of austere sufficiency, but no complaints about the food, and the staff is very friendly, yes very friendly.
