We like Ndutu Lodge for two reasons, its location and its simplicity; ok this place is not going to blow you away, but from December to March, when the herds are in this area, it is the best value permanent lodge in the whole area.
For this reason, especially in February time this lodge gets very booked up. This is a ‘drive-in’ lodge that requires you to bring your vehicle and a guide from Arusha, which also means it can be booked up by mass-market safari companies.
Ndutu Lodge – The Facts
Ndutu Lodge is located just outside the boundary of Serengeti National Park, but is in a prime game area.
The lodge is best accessed by vehicle as it is a ‘drive-in’ Lodge from Arusha or neighboring game areas such as Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro.
The lodge is one of the oldest in the area and has a simple, fun charm, not to mention a strong team running the property.
The Lodge comprises 34 stone cottages with thatched roofs, each fairly basic yet clean and comfortable, with en suite bathrooms.
It is a favorite among Tanzania safari operators based in Arusha and can fill up quickly during the calving season.
The main area has a simple bar and dining area, and nearby are great views of Lake Ndutu.
