Grumeti Serengeti is one of &Beyond’s luxury permanent Tented Lodges in the Serengeti.
It is located in the Western Corridor and is ideal from late May to early July when the migration passes through this area of the park.
The lodge is typical of &Beyond’s high standard in a quiet area of the park, hugging the banks of the Grumeti River.
The lodge is tented but feels like a well-established property, with tents raised on platforms.
The main area is a great place to relax and enjoy the local pods of hippos. Historically, the most luxurious permanent lodge in this area, but with the arrival of Singita just slightly North, the competition has heated up!
Grumeti Hotel Serengeti – The Facts
Grumeti Serengeti is located in western Serengeti and is best accessed by light aircraft on one of the scheduled flights in Northern Tanzania.
The lodge has its own airstrip minutes away. The area is best visited from May to early July; however, the resident game in this safari area is good year-round.
The luxury lodge is divided into a central area and tented accommodation along the Grumeti River.
The tented accommodation comprises 10 luxury en suite tents, each raised on a wooden platform along the riverbank.
The main area of the lodge is very open and well-kept, with a small lawn that slopes down towards the river, where there are always a few resident hippos cooling off in the water. There is a ‘boma’ where evening meals are taken, as well as a large pizza oven.
The Migration passes typically through this area from Late May to early July.
The herds do cross the Grumeti River; however, this is not the spectacular river crossing that occurs later in the year in the North of the Serengeti, in the Kogatende area.
Serengeti Safari is only memorable here for a small window every year.
Game driving is the primary game activity at Grumeti Serengeti within Serengeti National Park, offered in &beyond open-sided vehicles on a shared basis.
Price starts from $ 1,470 per person
