The luxury tented camp moved from Accasia to the Nyati special campsite. It is now located on the Southeastern side of the Ngorongoro Crater, near Crater Lodge. The elevation is 2310m.
Ang’ata Ngorongoro Camp
It is the most minor tented camp, with 8 Guest Tents, including a 2-tent family unit, a lounge, and a dining tent.
Each guest tent has an en suite bathroom with a shower, vanity desk, and a flush toilet. Depending on the request, King-size, Twin, or triple beds are available.
The lounge is where you can meet other travelers. You can share your Safari stories there and enjoy free Tanzanian Coffee or Tea.
Their chefs prepare breakfasts, lunches, and dinners in the dining tent. They serve fresh meals daily. Bush TV (the local name for a campfire) is lit when the weather permits.
Where is Ang’ata Camp?
The camp is set on the Eastern side of the Ngorongoro Crater’s rim, close to the Crater lodge. Their location is inside the park boundaries.
It allows early-game drives down to the crater. This means you can explore the World Heritage Site primarily on your own.
Up to 25,000 animals live in the crater. The Maasai Giraffes don’t live there because the slopes are too steep for them.
The 23 Black Rhinoceroses are the main attraction inside the crater. They are also the most elusive, making them a rare sight in the wild.
For those who wish to meet the Maasai, the Masai Bomas is located a few kilometers away.
Things to do at Ang’ata Camp
- You can easily reach Empakaai Crater from our Ngorongoro Camp. It’s just a day’s hike.
- You can also visit a Maasai Village. Donkey riding with local guides is available.
- You can walk on the rim of the Crater. An armed ranger will go with you
- Lastly, you can have a Bush Lunch on the Crater Floor.
- You can celebrate your Wedding or Vowel Renewal in a traditional Maasai style.
