We like Ndutu Lodge for two reasons, its location and its simplicity; ok this place is not going to blow you away but from December to March time when the herds are in this area it is the best value permanent lodge in the whole area.
For this reason, especially in February time this lodge gets very booked up. This is a ‘drive-in’ lodge that requires you to bring your vehicle and guide from Arusha which also means that this lodge can get booked up by the mass market safari companies.
Ndutu Lodge – The Facts
Ndutu Lodge is located just outside the Serengeti National Park boundary but is very much in a great game area.
The lodge is best accessed by vehicle as it is a ‘drive-in’ Lodge from Arusha or neighboring game areas such as Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro.
The lodge is one of the oldest around and has a simple and fun charm about it, not to mention a good team running the property.
The Lodge is made up of 34 stone cottages with thatched roofs, each comfortable is fairly basic but clean and comfortable with en suite bathrooms.
It is a favorite for Tanzania safari operators coming out of Arusha and can get quite booked up in the calving season.
The main area has a simple bar and dining area and nearby are great views of Lake Ndutu.
