Jongomero Camp

The Camp is situated in the southwest of Tanzania, Ruaha sprawls within and along an ancient arm of the Great Rift Valley, covering a unique transition zone where the Eastern and Southern species of both fauna and flora meet against a dramatic topographical background.

Jongomero has eight large and well-appointed tented suites, under enormous thatched roofs that also encompass a spacious private veranda.

Positioned on one of the meanders, with sweeping views of the bank beyond, lies the camp bar, lounge, and restaurant; which comprises an open wooden terrace shaded by a high thatched roof with comfortable sofas and furniture made of reclaimed dhow wood.

Accommodation

The accommodation at Jongomero comprises eight large and well-appointed tented suites, built on raised wooden platforms, under enormous thatched roofs that also encompass a spacious private instant veranda that overlooks the riverbed.

Jongomero is an inviting spot to relax with a cup of tea while leafing through one of the camp library’s reference books or socialize with camp managers and fellow guests around the bar with an ice-cold drink.

Alternatively, laze around the pool on warm days, and enjoy the sights and sounds of being so close to nature.

Snuggle under warming quilts in an enormous reclaimed-dhow wooden bed; fall asleep to the sounds of Africa beyond the canvas, and wake up to the morning tea/coffee tray. You will often find animals ambling past your tent in search of water and food—the ultimate remote off-the-beaten-track safari experience.

At Jongomero we have a limit of two children (aged 6 – 11) in camp at any one time. The camp is unfenced and children are the responsibility of their parent or guardian, at all times.
