The Volcanic Cones of Kilimanjaro<\/h2>\n

Kibo (5,895 meters \/ 19,341 feet)<\/h3>\n
Kibo is the highest and youngest of Kilimanjaro’s three volcanic cones. It is a dormant volcano, not currently erupting but potentially active in the future. The last major eruption was about 360,000 years ago, with minor activity, such as gas emissions and small collapses, occurring around 200 years ago.<\/div>\n

Mawenzi (5,149 meters \/ 16,893 feet)<\/h3>\n
Mawenzi is the second-highest cone, with a jagged, eroded peak. Unlike Kibo, Mawenzi is extinct and will not erupt again. Its dramatic spires dominate the eastern side and are visible from much of the southern circuit.<\/div>\n
